Biochemistry Laboratory (Room B+710)

Biochemistry Lab is a vital component of the College of Applied Sciences, dedicated to supporting the Applied Biology program. With a capacity for 15 students, this state-of-the-art facility is equipped with modern tools and devices essential for imparting a wide range of practical skills and abilities.

Within its walls, students have access to a number of devices, tools, and materials necessary for mastering both basic and specialized techniques. These include:

Phlebotomy technique.
Identification of blood collection tubes &preparation of blood plasma and serum.
How to use Spectrophotometer device.
Diabetic profile tests measurement of blood glucose.
Measurement of serum total cholesterol, measurement of serum triglyceride (TG).
Measurement of Serum LDL- C, HDL-C.
Liver Function Tests: measurement of Serum ALT &AST.
Measurement of Serum Bilirubin (Total, direct &indirect).
Measurement of Serum Creatinine, Creatinine Clearance.
Renal Function Tests, measurement of Serum BUN.
Quantitative Determination of Serum Uric Acid.
Quantitative Determination of Calcium (Ca++).
Learn how to stain the red blood cells.

Occupational Health and Safety Instructions:

Wear lab coats and gloves during specified experiments.
Refrain from smelling or tasting chemicals.
Entry into the laboratory is prohibited without supervision.
Consumption of food or drinks is strictly prohibited within the laboratory premises.
Do not adjust or handle equipment without the presence of a supervisor.
After use, ensure tools and materials are returned to their designated locations.
Dispose of sharp waste, such as needles and blood containers, in designated containers.
